Kogorocho Street

Posted by
Pied Crow (Abuja, Nigeria) on 25 April 2010 in Documentary & Street.

Kisumu Ndogo school is on this street in the bustling slum community of Kogorocho. About 60 percent of children in the slum areas attend community schools, like Kisumu Ndogo, rather than state schools. Parents pay a small fee, but state schools in these areas are overcrowded and have trouble meeting the needs of students. Kenya has made a serious investment in free primary education but is having trouble with quality and access. Kogorocho has two state primary schools -- the area is home to about 250,000 people.
