he seems almost like a cutout bird with the bright wing, head and neck contrasting with the distant part of his body in silvery shadow.

I know from experience that egrets are very powerful birds. What I like most about this shot is that it captures that tension and power hidden within the bird's elegant, slender frame. Nice work.
