These trumpet-shaped flowers are poisonous, I'm told, but I don't know the English name. (If you know, please tell me!) They are extravagantly in bloom now in the rainy season, but they fade and close quickly once picked.

I've heard that 'Deadly Nightshade' is poisonous, but is that the same flower? I don't know. But this is an interesting shot.

This is called "datura" and we have varieties that grow in New England. Whether they are natural occuring or native I do not know, but I have seen them in the wild. They are very poisonous. All the science aside, I really like this shot. Particularly the fabric you chose to seat the bloom on. It offers a pleasant contrast and I think it kind of sets off the blooms gloss and soft qualities.

@Henry: Thanks for the information -- and the nice comment. I choose the fabric for just those reasons! The rain has driven me to shooting inside and setting shots up, it is a new direction for me.
I forgot to add that I believe one of the common names is trumpet flower.
